Communications Community

Wherever you work in the collegiate University, and whether communications is your key function or only a small part of your role, you can join the Oxford Communications Community to make contact with colleagues working in communications and to share knowledge and ideas. The University-wide Communications Community exists alongside divisional and college networks. The network is centred around an active Microsoft Teams channel, in which everyone is invited to participate.

The Public Affairs Directorate manages a few channels for the Oxford Communications Community:

  • a Microsoft Teams group, which you can join by completing the form;
  • the Communications Hub, a University website with guidance and resources for communications tasks;
  • the Communications Digest, a newsletter containing time-sensitive notices such as job vacancies in communications in the University; and
  • an event programme, run monthly in collaboration with divisional communication leads, of professional development sessions for the community to share tips, resources and case studies.

A calendar highlighting useful dates (including issue and deadline dates for University Bulletin, Digest and Gazette) is available to view in a shared calendar.

Communications Community of Practice project

There is currently an ongoing Communications Community of Practice project, aiming to establish an integrated communications profession across the University that meets organisational needs and fosters professional development opportunities for Oxford's communications staff.

Communications Community Steering Group

Representatives from the University and colleges convene regularly to discuss relevant activities and campaigns and plan events. Each Communications Community event is owned by a different communications team, as listed below, focusing on their area or from colleagues who have come forward and asked to share their work.

Contact your local representative if you want to learn more about the community or wish to host an event.
