This page provides resources to help you make your content as good as it can be. A more strategic, joined-up approach to content will help us make the most of new platforms and give users a better experience.
In the coming years, the majority of existing web content will need to move:
- there will be a new Oxweb (ox.ac.uk)
- we’re launching OxIntranet, a University-wide intranet and
- sites hosted on Mosaic will move into its successor, Fresco.
This provides a brilliant opportunity to review current content, remove the out-of-date stuff, structure it more clearly and ensure that it is written in the most accessible and inclusive way so we’re providing the best experience possible for our thousands of staff and students or our millions of web visitors from around the world.

What good content looks like
Good content delivers the right information, at the right time, in the right format. It meets user needs and reflects the University’s tone, values and priorities.
We want a more strategic, joined-up approach across the University. This will make the most of our investment in platforms and improve the experience for both users and content creators. Our new content strategy outlines some of the principles and channel approaches we will use to deliver this improved experience.
Resources to help you:
Join the Content Network
The Oxford content network connects staff working on websites, intranets and digital content across the University. We run events and workshops, share good practice and help you build skills and confidence in content design.
Read the Content Network charter
The network’s objectives are:
- To provide a supportive and collaborative environment for those engaged in content-focused work to build their professional skills, supporting career progression and increasing visibility
- Using the content strategy as a foundation, to support the University to develop, share and maintain content standards and guidance
- To work collaboratively to improve content and the digital experience for all of our web and intranet audiences
- During the Transforming Oxford’s Digital Communications programme, to provide a forum for those impacted to find support for content-related work
Upcoming events
Everyone in the collegiate University who works on digital content – whether as a main role or as part of a broader job – is warmly welcome. Join us for one or all of the upcoming events.
One of the objectives of this group is to bring people together to support each other. With that in mind, if you’d like any of these sessions, including the opportunity to work practically together in a room, run in your department/division/area, we’re happy to bring them to you. Please email digicomms@admin.ox.ac.uk.
