About OxIntranet
Built with you in mind, over time OxIntranet will bring internal content that was previously scattered across multiple sites into one trusted space.
Staff and student hubs, local homes, and dedicated news and events pages make it easier to stay informed and connected across the collegiate University on a single, secure and user-friendly platform.;
The initial focus is on University-wide content for staff, and you can expect to see more divisions and units joining over the coming months, expanding the content and features available to you.
You can easily find OxIntranet by going to www.ox.ac.uk/intranet.

Why we're building it
At the moment, internal content is spread across multiple websites, SharePoint sites, and other systems, making it difficult to find what you needed. OxIntranet seeks to change that by creating a single, secure and user-friendly space, tailored to individuals within Oxford’s unique structure.
Based on SharePoint technology, it offers an improved experience for both content creators and end users. Publishing is simpler, content easier to find, and everything is underpinned by accurate, up-to-date people data — so that news, resources and announcements can be targeted to individuals and to groups such as departments, colleges and divisions
OxIntranet will empower local teams to manage and share their own content, while supporting a coordinated and consistent approach to internal communication across the University in line with the new Digital Content Strategy.
Ultimately it will make internal communications and information sharing more efficient and effective, supporting staff and students’ education and research in line with our academic mission.
Why use it?
OxIntranet will give staff and students a single, secure place to access the information they need to work and study.
- Unified look, feel and navigation
Content is presented in a consistent, user-friendly way, making it easier to find what you need quickly across Oxford’s complex structure.
- Content that is relevant to you
Most content is open to all staff and students, with the ability to restrict access where necessary – for local units, departments, divisions, or student groups – ensuring the right people see the right information.
- Search and discovery
Improved SharePoint search makes it easier to find news, events, and resources without relying on external search engines. You can also subscribe to updates that matter to you
- Security
All content is protected behind Oxford’s Single Sign-On (SSO), keeping internal information secure while remaining accessible to those who need it.
- Improved support
A dedicated team is in place to support content teams – helping maintain accuracy and consistency across the University.
Roll-out plans
We are building OxIntranet over time.
It launched in October 2025 with the overall structure in place, and focused on University-wide content for all staff. This includes information about education and student support, research and innovation, and health safety and wellbeing.
During the 2025/26 year, more information for all staff and students will be migrated, as well as content from colleges and departments where capacity allows. Content from across different parts of the University will then follow over time.
Governance and oversight
OxIntranet is overseen by the Intranet and Internal Communications Project Board, which includes representatives from all academic divisions, colleges, GLAM and the UAS.
The project is part of the Transforming Oxford’s Digital Communications Programme which sits within the Engagement & Dissemination Portfolio within the University's digital governance structure.
