Oxweb

Oxweb

In 2025/26 Oxweb will be migrating to a new build based on a more up-to-date platform, with a new design and improved content approach. In the first instance, only external-facing, Oxford-wide content will be included on Oxweb. Departmental sites will be migrated to Fresco, and we will work hard to ensure content and visual alignment with the main University site. Oxweb and Fresco sites will be aligned using a common design library and aligned governance and content approaches.

About Oxweb

Oxweb has more than 65 million annual pageviews from more than 200 countries. Oxweb’s content informs visitors about the University’s strengths and specialist areas while also providing key information about courses, colleges and application portals.

The objectives of Oxford’s main website must always be to:

  • Provide an excellent digital experience to the University’s key audiences, helping them access information quickly and easily
  • Be a shop window to the University’s strategic aims, including research & innovation
  • Provide an aesthetic and user experience suitable for a top University
  • Ensure the website is secure, stable and managed efficiently
  • Be a leader of new ideas and technologies to the rest of the University

Oxweb is managed by the Digital Communications team in the Public Affairs Directorate (PAD). The Oxweb Delivery Group supports the development of the new Oxweb build and provides a forum for feedback and insight.

What does Oxweb publish?

Oxweb includes content that is solely or predominantly for external audiences. The following types of content will typically appear under Oxweb:

  • Public-facing central content for University-wide sections, such as research or information about the University
  • Core admissions & outreach content, including course listings and applications information
  • News and campaign content about the University, its people, activities and research
  • Policy and procedure information (if it needs to be public for legal, compliance or reputational reasons)

When necessary, Oxweb will also provide limited information for staff and students, for example where putting the content behind SSO would prevent important activity. It may also provide some signposting to internal OxIntranet content, for example on the staff and student gateway pages.
